Three Reasons We Are Thankful For Our Society Partners
By Jessica Lipowski
As 2019 comes to a close, now is the perfect time to reflect on what we are grateful for. Many of the tasks related to publishing heavily rely on building successful partnerships, both internally and externally. Naturally, certain goals can be achieved individually, but growing a successful journal does not happen overnight, nor does it fall on the shoulders of just one person. It takes a village.
While there are numerous parties involved in getting a journal issue out on time – from authors, editors, peer reviewers, copyeditors, web designers, librarians and mail carriers to those who focus on promotion following publication and everyone else in between – today we would like to focus our gratitude on our society partners.
SAGE partners with over 500 societies globally. Strong society partnerships are key to the advancement of knowledge in order to create a positive impact on today’s world. Three reasons we are grateful to collaborate with societies include, but are not limited to:
· Strategic Partnership: Societies had a vision when they first established a journal and identified the type of content worth publishing. The mission and vision of the society often coalesces around annual conferences, webinars, and advocacy initiatives. Publication of a journal funnels that mission to a focus on what researchers want to share and discover, which is a value SAGE embraces, as well. By partnering with these societies, our objective at SAGE is to pursue the best opportunities for these journals and enhance worldwide visibility, reach and readership. Going forward, our aim is to continue to be a trusted advisor and share best practices around academic publishing. With a strong collaborative relationship from both sides, we share a common purpose of making a difference in our world.
· Expertise: At the heart of the society is a group of professionals who know their discipline inside and out. Many of the members are top researchers and practitioners in their field. The expertise available at the society level, providing the opportunity to learn about relevant trends and hot topics, always meets or exceeds expectations.
· Excellence: Just like SAGE, the societies we work with are committed to quality. Quality is important for everyone involved, whether maintaining a quick turnaround time for authors, increasing financial revenue, disseminating high-quality content, engaging board members to help solicit high-impact research, or building bridges to knowledge.
We are thankful for so many things this year, especially our society collaborations. Thank you for being wonderful partners as we head into 2019, strong and steady!
